Water Heater Repair & Installation
How long does a water heater last?
Most conventional tank water heaters last somewhere in the 8 to 12 year range, depending on water quality, maintenance and how hard the unit works. Once a tank is leaking from the body, replacement is the only real fix.
Can you replace a water heater the same day?
Often, yes. We offer same-day service, meaning service within 24 hours of scheduling, and we stock common residential sizes. Call 201-245-7772 and we will tell you honestly what we can do today.
Is it worth repairing an older water heater?
It depends on the failure and the age. A thermocouple, element or thermostat on an eight-year-old unit is usually worth fixing. A failed tank, or repeated repairs on a heater past a decade, usually is not.
Do you handle the gas and electrical connections too?
Yes. We are a licensed plumbing and HVAC contractor with a mechanical engineer and an electrical engineer on staff, and we handle our own wiring and gas connections on installs.
Drain Cleaning
Should I try a chemical drain cleaner first?
We would rather you did not. They often fail on solid blockages, they can damage older pipes and seals, and they create a hazard for the plumber who has to open the line afterward.
How often do drains need cleaning?
That depends on the house. Homes with older cast-iron waste lines, heavy kitchen use or a history of root intrusion benefit from periodic maintenance. A drain that clogs more than once a year is telling you something.
Why do all my drains back up at once?
Multiple fixtures backing up together points to the main line rather than an individual trap. That is when a camera inspection is worth doing so you can see what is actually down there.
Will snaking damage my pipes?
Not when the machine and cutter head are matched to the pipe. We size the equipment to the line, which matters especially in older cast iron and clay.
Air Conditioning Repair & Maintenance
How fast can you get here when my AC stops working?
We offer same-day service, meaning service within 24 hours of scheduling in most cases. Our phone line is answered live around the clock, and calls that come in after hours are booked for the next available appointment.
How often should central air conditioning be serviced?
Once a year, ideally in spring before you need it. Annual maintenance keeps airflow and refrigerant charge where they belong, which protects the compressor — the most expensive part of the system.
My AC is freezing up. Can I just turn it off and let it thaw?
Turning it off and running the fan will thaw the coil, but ice is a symptom, not the problem. It usually points to restricted airflow or low refrigerant, and it will come right back unless the cause is corrected.
Is it worth repairing an older air conditioner?
It depends on the repair and the system. A capacitor or contactor on a 12-year-old unit is well worth it; a failed compressor usually is not. We give you the repair cost and the replacement cost so you can compare them directly.
Furnace Repair & Maintenance
Why does my furnace keep shutting off after a few minutes?
Usually a dirty flame sensor, a blocked flue or restricted airflow tripping a safety limit. All three are diagnosable and most are same-visit repairs.
How long should a furnace last?
Most gas furnaces run roughly 15 to 20 years with regular maintenance. Age alone is not a reason to replace, but it changes the math on an expensive repair.
Should I repair or replace my furnace?
We look at the cost of the repair, the age and condition of the heat exchanger, and how the unit has been performing. If replacement makes more sense we will show you why, and financing is available through Synchrony.
How often should I change the filter?
Check it monthly during heating season. Most one-inch filters need changing every one to three months, sooner with pets, and a clogged filter is a common cause of furnace shutdowns.
Boiler Services
Do you work on old steam systems?
Yes. A lot of pre-war housing in this area runs steam with cast-iron radiators, and it is a system we service regularly. Most steam complaints come down to venting and piping, not the boiler itself.
Why do my pipes bang when the heat turns on?
On steam systems it is usually condensate trapped where it cannot drain, often from radiator pitch or a failed vent. On hot water it is typically trapped air. Both are fixable.
How long does a boiler last?
Well-maintained cast-iron boilers often run decades, while modern high-efficiency units generally have a shorter service life. Condition, water quality and maintenance history matter more than age alone.
What brand of boiler do you install?
We install and service major boiler brands and pick equipment to suit the house and the heat loss calculation, rather than pushing one line on every job.
Commercial HVAC Services
Do you service commercial buildings after hours?
We schedule off-hours work where the job allows so your operation is not disrupted. We also answer the phone 24/7 with a live person who books the next available appointment.
What types of businesses do you work with?
Restaurants, retail, offices, medical and dental suites, warehouses and multi-family buildings across North Jersey.
Do you offer commercial maintenance agreements?
Yes, maintenance programs are available as an option. We build the scope and schedule around your specific equipment list rather than a one-size package.
Can you handle rooftop unit replacement including the crane?
Yes. We coordinate crane scheduling, curb adapters, rigging, permits and electrical so the changeout is managed as one project.
