What should I do the moment I smell gas?

Can a gas leak be too small to smell?
Yes. Slow leaks at threaded joints or appliance connectors may not produce a noticeable odor. A detector survey and pressure test find leaks your nose will not.
Does a carbon monoxide alarm detect gas leaks?
No. A CO alarm detects carbon monoxide from incomplete combustion, not unburned natural gas. They are both worth having, but they do different jobs.
Will the gas utility fix my leak?
The utility is responsible for its main and typically for the meter. Piping inside your home and on your property is normally the owner's responsibility, and that is the part we repair.
