  • Same-Day Service
  • No Worries Pricing
  • Family Owned & Operated

Heights Plumbing, Heating & Cooling installs and services whole-house and point-of-use water filtration for homes across North Jersey. We start with what your water actually contains, then recommend the filter that solves it rather than the biggest system on the shelf.

We are a family owned, licensed and insured New Jersey plumbing contractor with 56 years of industry experience. Pricing is upfront, and we explain filter life and replacement cost before you commit to a system.

Water That Tastes, Smells or Stains Is Telling You Something

Chlorine taste, a metallic edge, cloudiness after a main break, or sediment that clogs aerators and shower heads are common complaints in older North Jersey neighborhoods where the supply piping has decades on it. Plenty of homes here still have original galvanized branch lines feeding fixtures, and those shed rust and scale into the water.

Filtration is not one product. Carbon handles taste and odor, sediment filters handle grit, and reverse osmosis targets dissolved contaminants at a single tap. Buying the wrong one means paying for cartridges that never address your actual complaint.

What Our Water Filtration Service Includes

We begin with a walkthrough and water testing so we know what we are treating. We look at pressure, flow rate, the incoming service line and where water enters the house, then identify the right point for treatment: whole-house at the main, or point-of-use at the kitchen sink.

Installation includes the filter housing or system, bypass and isolation valves so cartridge changes are simple, proper support and drainage where required, and pressure testing when we are done. We also set a realistic cartridge replacement schedule and show you how to handle it yourself if you prefer.

Signs You May Need a Water Filtration System

  • Chlorine or metallic taste at the kitchen tap
  • Cloudy water that clears after sitting
  • Sediment clogging aerators and shower heads
  • Rust-colored staining in sinks and tubs
  • Sulfur or musty odor from the cold side
  • You buy bottled water for drinking and cooking
  • Ice and coffee taste off
  • Existing cartridges have not been changed in a year

Noticing any of these? Call (201) 245-7772 or request service online. Same-day appointments across North Jersey.

Our Water Filtration Process

  1. Test and listen

We test the water and ask what bothers you about it. Taste, odor, staining and sediment each point to a different solution.

  2. Recommend the right system

We match filtration type and capacity to the test results, your flow rate and the number of people in the house.

  3. Quote upfront

You get the equipment price, the install price and the ongoing cartridge cost in writing before we start.

  4. Install cleanly

We plumb the system in with bypass valves, mount it so filters are easy to reach, and pressure test the connections.

  5. Show you the maintenance

We label the system, note cartridge sizes, and set a change interval so performance does not quietly fall off.

Water Filtration Options We Offer

Whole-house carbon filtration

Reduces chlorine taste and odor at every tap, shower and appliance in the house.

Sediment pre-filtration

Catches rust, grit and scale before it reaches fixtures, water heaters and appliances. Useful in homes with aging supply piping.

Under-sink drinking water filters

A compact filter at the kitchen sink for drinking and cooking water, with a dedicated faucet.

Reverse osmosis systems

Multi-stage treatment for dissolved contaminants at a single tap, usually the kitchen.

Refrigerator and ice maker connections

We can feed the fridge from the filtered line so ice and cold water taste the same as the tap.

Filter replacement and service

Scheduled cartridge changes, sanitizing and system checks on our installs and on systems installed by others.

Water Filtration FAQs

Whole-house or under-sink, which do I need?

If the complaint is drinking and cooking water, an under-sink or reverse osmosis system is usually the efficient choice. If you also want filtered water for showers, laundry and appliances, a whole-house system at the main makes more sense.

Will a filter fix hard water?

No. Filtration improves taste, odor and particulates. Hardness is dissolved calcium and magnesium, and that requires a water softener. The two are often installed together.

How often do filter cartridges need changing?

It depends on the cartridge type and how much water you use. Sediment and carbon filters are commonly changed once or twice a year. We will give you an interval specific to your system.

Do you test the water first?

Yes. We test before recommending equipment so you are not paying to treat something that is not there.

Can filtration help my water heater last longer?

Sediment pre-filtration reduces the grit that settles in the bottom of a tank, which helps. If you also have hard water, adding a softener does more for water heater life.
